Default Baibai's Art Dump (eww)

To prevent a total takeover of the CnC thread I thought I'd make my own thread for past and future pieces I end up sharing.
Plus weirdly enough I began playing this game with a bunch of pals from another art forum so this would make my time in GW come to a neat circle. :]

I've recently started drawing again after 4 years so I am for the moment (hopefully :P) rusty and looking to relearn and refine my drawing skills. :<
I am also looking to invest in a tablet as my previous couple of attempts at digital colouring/rending have been pretty average results for hours of frustrations. (Just getting an acceptable result for me is hard enough let alone being able to experiment! >_<)
So, that said any suggestions as to tablets models to look out for and any comments a criticisms to improve are muchly appreciated!!

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/2614/...monkresize.jpg -- quick sketch, mainly was looking at the full-on side profile proportions but I know the arm/hand looks completely whack :P Drawing hair is hard too. Might clean it up a bit later if I get feedback.

For the monk, the lines on the cloth on her breast need to curve around the breast and dissappear below it. At the moment it simply looks like a curved line.

With her arm, the elbow needs to come down more to make the pose more natural, at the moment it seems as if her elbow is way out to her right, which is quite unnatural for what she is doing. I would make the hand seem more flat on her chest by showing more of the finger on the pinky, and making less of the index and middle fingers viewable. Showing a small section of her thumb would also be good, as atm it is either non-existant, or in an uncomfortable position.

The warrior is great, the only problem I can see is her body seems to far forward in comparison to her legs.

I love the little details in your Halloween thing, the sipder on her finger especially. Her right leg seems a bit far back for a standing still position (If my interpritation of the pose is correct, balance could become an issue), either add more space between the legs, or move it forward a little.

Thankyou Eragon and Vayngell for the kind words, I wish I were as prolific with high quality works as the other artists here are! xD

And thanks heaps for the crits subarucar! I wont be able to alter the horrorween picture much unfortunately (at least not given the time frame) but I played around with the monk picture a bit by tilting the angle to expose more pinky so hopefully at the least it doesn't look so flat! Hands for me are a bit of a fluke if I get it right so hopefully this time it sits a little better.
Unfortunately the pencil work in the area is starting to get a little muddy if that makes sense (the problem of using only 'borrowed' art supplies from other people for the time being >_>) so I'll probably polish it up and leave it. D:

Hope the finished work is to your liking Mr. Frozenwind! :P

I like the monk the most. Her arms are a bit short though.

Thanks YSJ, I'm told my pencil works lose a bit of character when I decide to ink for colour which is mainly I think because I'm lazy and have poor line choice
I tried fixing the arms so hopefully it looks a bit better now (I'm not sure how the proportion of the forearm crossing the chest should be :s)
Anyway I think I'm finished as I'm gonna be:

Hope you like Shen >_>

Also did another sketch. A lot of ele armors make me think of cheesy retro space jumpsuits (tyrian and fow esp.) so yah :[

EDIT:
2 more, to procrastinate about colouring =_=

1 a sketch with a small amount of an attempt to convey environment (this case water). I don't know what happened to her right eye t-t meh

Practicing potential pose in a later work I might attempt. The body especially doesn't look quite right but its a hard pose to recreate so crits definitely welcome should anyone have the time. A paintover would be godlike xD
The face is fine tho.

i really really love it!! again - it's super detailed. i really like how you cut off the drawing - that it stops at the beginning of the side of the staff.

thank you sooo sooo sooooo much for sketching Spoon Legs!

and by the way, the arm does look better after you changed the angle of the fingers.

@Shen: glad its okay n_n
@Blue: yarr

Been working on finishing my horrorween pic which quite frankly took forever (I'm really slow colouring >_<)
I've not done many coloured pictures by computer at all (the del pic up top was my 2nd and this would be my 4th). Mainly because I use a mouse which makes it quite slow and bland/boring (very hard for me to do any expressive painterly strokes )
CnC of course is welcome again. I know its really really bland, and colour choice/values could have been better. Lighting is also a weakness so any suggestions to keep in mind for next time would be greatly appreciated! (I also should have a day or so to make any minor tweaks)

Final product (?):

The BG clouds were kind of an after thought I might take them out if they don't work. :\
Also, composition-wise I couldn't decide on the face for Mr.Frozenwind so any vote of the following 3 would help a lot (I'm too indecisive >_< )

Bleh .-.

Thanks for the input ES, it is very much appreciated!
Probably should have darkened the colours as a whole if I wanted an inner-glow kind of feel (like a snowman pumpkinhead see :P)

Got a new tablet and started playing around with it a few days ago. I must admit, I have no idea what the heck I'm doing and probably should be a tad more constructive (at least read up a bit) but ohwell. A couple doodles and a test piece that I'm gonna scrap (nothing looks right: too chunky/out of proportion; too boring etc just looks wrong I dono why -_-)

Uuuuh, I can't draw guys. :\

Please excuse any indecency a mini moa was going to preserve it later DD:!

At least it's still fun to mess around on even though It's killing my neck x_x

working with a tablet takes some time to get used to, so I guess the doodling is about as constructive as you can get just play around with the settings and find out what you like. And the great thing about working digitally is that you can change something that looks f.. *ahem* chunky into something skinnier pretty easily (lasso tool ftw xD). Doing good tho

Nice doodles. It's always fun to check out the new toy, how you liking it? It's a LOT better than a mouse, pressure sensitivity is pure win. I'm already drooling over the new Intuos series 4. They look awesome.

But anyways, you'll get the hang of it in no time. As for the last sketch I think the main issue is perspective, her body is at one angle and her legs at another. Maybe try looking in the mirror if you want to fix it?

@ Morag: Yeah I agree after a bit more playing. I was dumb enough to assume the driver CD provided would be sufficient and proceeded to tear my hair out over the lack of pressure sensitivity in photoshop xD
But I fixed that so yay. And yeah I have tried the lasso tool to move bits about and repainting around than doing it all completely. Though, is there an easier way to move a cut object about rather than having to paste -> ctrl+z -> move and re-paste trial and error as to what looks good? (I don't really know where I think it might look better until I see it at the moment >_<)

@Gwee: Thanks for the suggestion! I tried it at the start but my memory is a bit poop. I'll try taking a photo maybe and re-try the pose in another sketch.
The tablet is good I dunno it feels much nicer than trying to be very careful and particular with my mouse. (I'm also a leftie but a right-handed mouse user which makes me wonder if that also didn't help :s)

But yeah, thanks for the help both!

A quick and dirty (actually, very dirty) sketch. I gave up on the eyes. Gah. >_<

Double post (if that's ok!) but thought I might just try and sneak a WIP up for feedback (any CnC I can get is appreciated!).
Not reaaaally too happy with the resulted style, and I need big work on my colour values (really struggling to do the shadows well...among other things of course x_x gave up on the face).
Originally was a really quick sketch and intent to practice a few things but have worked on it now a bit more than I wanted due to the amount of things I have painted, repainted, lassoed and 1 complete rework from scratch. D:
Hopefully will have time to finish it. >_>

Edit:

Sorta finished I guess
Couldn't do much with a bg, I was silly and lazy when I started u_u

sort of a bump, have been too busy to do much other than sketches. I had started a little pic for US for the birthday thread before I ran out of free time but its a bit belated now u-u;

To be refined (maybe a bit of colour adjustments and work on the hand and a more interesting bg :[ ) but unfortunately I knocked my funny bone harder than I ever have this morning and it still hurts when drawing D:

the nails on the mes look really cool. a late congrats on the tablet by the way and good job on the earrings.

also, i like the way you did the hair on the monk. it's neat how there are different colors in it that make up the hair, so that it looks defined in a way.
